When a friend of mine, who has a Seeing Eye® dog, suggested that I get a guide dog, I'll admit that I was nervous. I was afraid of dogs and wasn't sure about working so closely with one — even one as well-trained as a Seeing Eye dog.
But I was living in Washington, D.C. at the time, and I wasn't able to travel in the city the way I wanted to. So I tucked my reservations away and went to visit The Seeing Eye. I met an instructor and a dog...and the rest is history!
My pup Summer and I have been paired for six years now. She’s half Labrador retriever and half golden retriever, and she helps me navigate the world freely, the way I want to.
