Hugh's Day - Softball!

By Craig Garretson, Communications Officer

A black Lab puppy sits in the grass while kids play softball behind him.

It’s important that Seeing Eye puppies get exposed to a variety of situations!

Last week, I brought six-month-old Hugh to my daughter Maddie’s softball practice. There’s always a lot of activity – balls flying, girls running, people yelling – but the photo shows Hugh serenely staring off in the opposite direction of the field. Hugh was much more interested in taking a walk through the wooded trails that surrounded the field.

Maybe some day, Hugh will guide his Seeing Eye partner into a stadium for a Major League Baseball game and remember, “Oh yeah, I’ve been to one of these before. Where are the woods?”
