Meet the real Sergeant Pepper!

By Sarge, #Futurehero dog reporter

Thought you might like to meet a fine man whose life has been forever influenced  by your support. His name is Jason Pepper, and that’s him in the picture with his Seeing Eye dog®, Rubin.

Jason bravely served our country as a staff sergeant in Iraq where he was known as -- what else -- Sergeant Pepper to those in his command.

Jason lost his vision during an attack in Karbala, Iraq in 2004.

After Jason’s health stabilized, he decided to get a Seeing Eye dog. On our campus he met his match, a Labrador/golden retriever cross named Rubin.

Describing the partnership Jason says, “You have to trust an animal to be your eyes and do everything you would have done with sight. I trust him. He trusts me. I just knew from the beginning that we were the right pair.”

You may not be aware of this, but ever since the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941, The Seeing Eye tuition for military veterans has remained $1. We can only offer that extraordinary price because of generous donors like you.

Please consider honoring Veterans Day today by making a donation to support teams like Jason and Rubin.
