Spend a day with Susan & Logan

By Gabby, #Futurehero Dog Reporter

90 years is a long time to be breeding, raising, training, and matching Seeing Eye dogs with people who are blind and visually impaired (that’s 630 years in dog years!). So I thought you’d like to know a few facts about The Seeing Eye you might find interesting:

  • There are more than 1,700 active Seeing Eye teams throughout the U.S. and Canada.
  • Seeing Eye staff conduct more than 500 visits to new applicants, returning applicants, and graduates (if requested) each year.
  • One Seeing Eye graduate is an oceanographer, whose dog accompanies her in the field water!
  • The Half Century Club is for graduates who have been working with dogs for more than 50 years.

Those are just a few facts you may have read in the latest installment of The Seeing Eye Journey: Stage 4 - Career. You can hear all about what a typical day is like for Seeing Eye graduate, Susan and her dog, Logan. As Susan says, “Logan is like an extension of me. We love working together. We love playing together. We love being together.”
