To enhance the education of the general public about The Seeing Eye and the use of dog guides, we offer a Free Film Service plus offer a few titles for purchase.

Allow six weeks for booking videos. Please note that The Seeing Eye only fills video loan requests through Motion Picture Services.

Harnessing Freedom
22 minutes, VHS or DVD, English or SpanishAn overview of The Seeing Eye’s history and its programs since its founding in 1929 to present programs and services. It features dog guide training in downtown Morristown and at the Washington Valley campus, and also includes Seeing Eye graduates talking about their training and the independence, dignity and confidence their dogs bring them.

Choices: Living with Vision Loss
30 minutes, VHS This video demonstrates to recently blinded people, their families, friends and medical and rehabilitation professionals that, with a positive outlook, emotional support and professional instruction, life after sight loss can remain rich and fulfilling. The video addresses the trauma of vision loss, availability of professional training and importance of family support and features blind men and women who have chosen to move forward, despite disability, to lead fulfilling, productive lives.  

Choices: Living with Vision Loss also may be purchased with a companion large-print booklet, If Blindness Occurs, which describes adaptive daily living techniques and lists resources for assistive materials. Use the coupon on the other side to order the Choices video. Guided By Love
This video depicts a day in the life of a Washington DC Seeing Eye graduate. This video takes an in-depth look at the challenges this dog guide team face on a daily basis.

Keeping an Eye on a Friend
4:30 minutes, VHS Tailored to elementary-age audiences, this video tells the story of a Seeing Eye dog told from the dog's point of view. A companion teacher's guide is available from The Seeing Eye.

Partners: Life with a Seeing Eye Dog
20 minutes, VHS Partners is an inspiring, informational, first-person look at the independence, dignity and confidence that Seeing Eye dogs provide. In it, graduates of The Seeing Eye speak movingly about their devoted partners and guides.  

Partners In Travel
25 minutes, VHS This video focuses on how orientation and mobility professionals can best assist dog guide users in familiarizing themselves with new and old routes.

Seeing Eye Puppy Raisers: People Like You
18:30 minutes, VHS Puppy raisers provide the foundation for a successful guide dog team by providing the puppy with the love, socialization and basic obedience it will need to succeed in guide dog training. This video, narrated by Betty White, looks at the extraordinary volunteers who open their homes and hearts to the special puppies destined to become Seeing Eye dogs.

Coming Home
23 minutes, VHS or DVD, English or Spanish. While it is exciting to bring home a Seeing Eye dog, our graduates often tell the challenges they face from well-intentioned interference and misperceptions about the role of a dog guide from family, friends, employers and colleagues. This video explains what a dog guide can and cannot do, and provides instruction on “dog guide etiquette,” including orientation, meeting new people, feeding, correction, public interference, travel and more. (It may be purchased for $15 postpaid from The Seeing Eye.)

With a Dog's Eyes: Capturing the Life of Morris Frank
60 minutes, VHS A witty, intimate tribute to Morris Frank, the first person to use a Seeing Eye dog, written and performed by actor Bill Mooney. In With a Dog's Eyes, Mooney brings to life Morris Frank, whose single-minded determination to enable himself and other blind people to travel independently with Seeing Eye dogs, opened a new world for them. The story touches the hearts of all who have overcome adversity. With a Dog's Eyes may be purchased ($23 postpaid) directly from The Seeing Eye.
