MORRISTOWN, N.J. - Be Like Henry, a Mt. Laurel based non-profit organization, has donated 1,500 pounds of dog food to The Seeing Eye.

“The Seeing Eye is very appreciative of this generous donation, which will directly benefit the Seeing Eye® dogs in our training program,” said Seeing Eye President & CEO Glenn Hoagland. “We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Be Like Henry and all of the organization’s supporters for making this donation possible.”

"This donation is in memory of Oz, who came to us as a Seeing Eye puppy that my daughter raised. We later adopted him when he completed the training program but wasn’t matched with a student. He passed away one year ago, after many years as our beloved pet. We anticipate this will be the start of an annual remembrance for him,” said Be Like Henry Founder Cheryl Pliskin. “We raised six puppies for The Seeing Eye and it was a phenomenal experience for my children and me.  We are proud to give back via this donation.”

Be Like Henry was named after Pliskin’s rescue dog. Henry, now a certified therapy dog, went from rags to riches when Pliskin adopted him and is now spending his days paying it forward. Pliskin hopes to inspire others to pay it forward to aid animal-related charities with acts of kindness facilitated by the charity.

Be Like Henry’s mission is “healing dogs and their people.” The organization partners with non-profits all over the country to help with food, kennel supplies, dog equipment, and other needs.  Internationally they ship RexSpecs to the Mililtary Working Dogs in Afghanistan.  Those interested in supporting the charity’s various projects, may donate to PayPal.me/BeLikeHenry.

Established in 1929, The Seeing Eye provides specially bred and trained dogs to guide people who are blind. Seeing Eye dog users experience greatly enhanced mobility and independence, allowing them to retain their active lifestyles despite blindness. The Seeing Eye is a 501(c)3 non-profit supported by contributions from individuals, corporations and foundations, bequests, and other planned gifts.

The Seeing Eye is a trademarked name and can only be used to describe the dogs bred and trained at the school’s facilities in Morristown, N.J. If you would like more information on The Seeing Eye, please visit the website at
