Dr. Kyle Quigley to Head The Seeing Eye’s Veterinary Medicine & Genetics Team

Dr. Dolores Holle retiring after 30 years at America’s first guide dog school

Kyle Quigley, D.V.M.

Morristown, N.J. – C. Kyle Quigley, D.V.M., is being promoted to Director of Veterinary Medicine & Genetics at The Seeing Eye.

Dr. Quigley, a resident of Mendham Township, has been an attending veterinarian at The Seeing Eye since January 2020. He was previously Medical Director of Community and Shelter Medicine at the Animal Rescue League of Boston, and he is a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the 82nd Airborne Division.

Dr. Quigley received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (D.V.M.) from the Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in Saint Kitts, a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Tufts University in Massachusetts, and a certificate in Non-Profit Management and Leadership from the Questrom School of Business at Boston University.

In addition, The Seeing Eye has renamed our veterinary department from Canine Medicine & Surgery to Veterinary Medicine & Genetics.

He is succeeding Dolores M. Holle, V.M.D., who is retiring after 31 years as Director of Canine Medicine & Surgery, of which she was the founding director. Among her many accomplishments at The Seeing Eye were the oversight of the design, staffing, and protocol development of both the Vincent A. Stabile Canine Health Center and The Seeing Eye Breeding Station. Dr. Holle also formed long term partnerships with researchers and clinicians at the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Veterinary Medicine and Cornell University’s Baker Institute in areas including ophthalmology, genetics, pediatrics, orthopedics, and radiology. Due to these associations The Seeing Eye has been able to eliminate multiple genetic diseases from its breeding population, and overall has greatly improved the health and longevity of its guide dogs.

“Thousands of Seeing Eye® dogs benefited from Dolores’ expertise, living happier, healthier lives, and providing their handlers with the mobility, confidence, and independence that comes from working with a guide dog,” said E. Margaret “Peggi” Howard, Interim President & CEO of The Seeing Eye. “She literally and figuratively led our canine medicine team into the 21st century. We all wish her the very best in a well-earned retirement.”

The Seeing Eye provides specially bred and trained dogs to guide people who are blind. Seeing Eye® dog users experience greatly enhanced mobility and independence, allowing them to retain their active lifestyles despite blindness. The Seeing Eye is a 501(c)3 non-profit supported by contributions from individuals, corporations, foundations, bequests, and other planned gifts.

The Seeing Eye is a trademarked name and can only be used to describe the dogs bred and trained at the school’s facilities in Morristown, N.J. For more information on The Seeing Eye, visit www.SeeingEye.org, call (973) 539-4425, or email info@seeingeye.org.
