Volunteer

Opportunities for All Ages

Are you looking for a volunteer idea for your office, scouts, school, religious or other projects? These options might be right for you!

A note about group volunteer opportunities: At this time, we cannot accommodate large groups of volunteers from a corporation or organization on our campus for one-time volunteer projects. Instead please consider one of the following programs or explore our corporate partner opportunities.

Puppy Raising and puppy sitting: Visit our puppy raising section to learn more about how you can get involved in your local puppy club. The minimum age for the primary raiser is 9 years old but families of all sizes and ages can raise puppies together!

Pennies for Puppies: The Seeing Eye's Pennies for Puppies® & Dollars for Dogs® programs offers groups of all ages the opportunity to participate in an educational community service project that benefits people with blindness and vision loss from across the United States and Canada.

Start a Fundraising Page: Whether you're participating in a fitness event, having a birthday celebration, or organizing an office fundraiser, you can support our mission with a fundraiser customized for your goals.

On-Campus and Remote Opportunities for Individuals (age 18 and over)

The Seeing Eye is fortunate to have many talented on-campus and remote volunteers that assist with a variety of duties throughout the organization.  The average wait time to be placed in a volunteer position could be six months to a year.  All volunteers operating Seeing Eye vehicles are required to have a driver’s license check and are covered under The Seeing Eye’s insurance policy.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please e-mail volunteers@seeingeye.org to receive a listing of volunteer opportunities and a volunteer application.

Remote Volunteer Opportunities for Adults (age 18 and over)

Remote opportunities are a good option if you’re interested in volunteering from home a few hours per week. These volunteers are not required to come to campus.

Current remote opportunities: We understand that you may have unique skills to contribute as a volunteer. If you have an idea for how you can volunteer remotely, please email us at volunteers@seeingeye.org to inquire.

On-Site Volunteer Opportunities for Adults (age 18 and over)

We have limited opportunities that include the direct handling of our dogs. However, you may have the opportunity to meet puppies and dogs in our program during your time volunteering on campus.

Volunteers assist at our three locations:

Washington Valley Campus: Located in Morris Twp, this is our main campus where you will find our staff offices, kennels, meeting spaces and residence hall where our students live while training with their new dogs. Note: Dog walking is not offered as a volunteer opportunity at this location.

The breeding station in Chester, N.J.: Our breeding dogs and newborn puppies are housed in a separate location about 25-minutes from the main campus. We have limited opportunities to volunteer at this location and the current wait time for a volunteer position at the breeding station is 2 years.

Downtown Morristown Training Center: Just steps off The Green, in the heart of Morristown, this is where our instructors bring dogs and students for daily training.
